It's just as big a thing for high school sports as it is for college hoops.



A lot of driving to districts and regionals. A lot of games. A lot of drama.



Last second shots to tie or win. A free throw deciding the outcome of the game.



Undefeated teams falling early.



Other teams making a run all the way to States.



And then the final minutes tick away. 



And another private school beats the local squad.

Around this time of year it's always a lot of hoops games to cover. Districts then Regionals then States (if your local team is lucky enough to make it that far). It usually means you're driving at least an hour to your game, too. 



So you're probably wondering what the heck a spot news photo has to do with this. It doesn't. The hoops post will come as soon as hoops season is done. For now, here's some stuff I've shot in between sports assignments.





A birthday party for a 102-year-old (although she swears she is 82).

 

Some political PR stuff, including a visit from Midland's local U.S. rep, Dave Camp.





And then some kids.

For my next installment of the Central Middle School series, I did a page on the final drama production. Got a couple ideas for what's coming next. We'll have to see.

It has been a very slow month or so. Very. Slow.



Which is great, because I can be lazy.



Except...I probably shouldn't be lazy.




But the problem with full autonomy is that it doesn't help the laziness.



When things aren't happening, or not going your way and all you want to do is sit down and not worry about whatever is going on.



The blessing is being able to do what you want, when you want.



The curse is that all I need to put in is eight hours a day.



Instead of going early and staying late, I can stay just as long as I need to.



So here's to staying a littler later from now.



Taking a bit more time both in shooting and editing.



Because ice biking is awesome, and I don't find that right away. I don't always find that during my shift.



I say I like spending time out in the community.




So what the hell.
