"Secondhand gags, third-rate execution, fourth-rate results."

For the second time this season, Dow played their crosstown rival, Midland. This time to continue their season and win their district. Above is a scene from an impromptu yell night.
This was only the second time they've played each other twice in a season, and Dow was ready to make up for an embarrassing loss.
But poor discipline and several costly mistakes got the best of them.
And their postseason ended the same way the regular season did. With an embarrassing final score.
Well. Until next season.

"The episodic story and minimal budget result in a small canvas over which these two huge characters dominate."

I haven't shot as much football as I did last year.
But with a big game coming up on Friday -- big enough to probably warrant its own blog post -- I figured I'd share some frames from the last two games I shot.
Enjoy!

Tamol.

Playoffs in any sport is a pretty fun time. Odds are you'll end up shooting a lot of one team, so you get to know them a bit better.
And each new game brings a new opportunity to shoot something different.
Shoot action a bit different.
And know their pre-game rituals and routine.
And then they get knocked out.
Oh well.

Christmas. Hoops.

It's Christmas season. As Nick King told me, everything is either Christmas-related or a hoops game. I shot both in one day.

Golf golf golf

I shot golf for the first time today, as well as used the 300mm for the first time. It was a little finnicky (or wonkey, as Nathan says) with the autofocus, but it's golf...I have time to manually focus.

Jordan Fairbank, an H.H. Dow High senior, hits a drive as rain steadily increases Wednesday morning at the Currie Municipal Golf Course. "(Fairbank) has probably been playing golf since he could walk," said Dow coach Mark Pickering.

After a while of telephoto-ing, I got bored. So I took out the wide 14mm lens I had and got super close for a few shots. Holy green.

15-year-old Chris Dinh carefully looks and lines for his putt on the last hole of the front nine Wednesday morning at the Currie Municipal Golf Course. Dinh, an H.H. Dow High School freshman, is Dow's top golfer. "I've been playing for 11 years, since I was four. Golf is really serious for me. I'm going to play through high school, try to play in college, and see what comes next."
